The Derby Sire and Dam Program
The major fund raiser for the NMRHA Derby is the NMRHA Sire and Dam Program. Stallion owners wishing to help support Morgan reining donate breedings to the Derby which can then be sold for half price, the proceeds going to the Derby. Stallions that are donated and sold during the year then qualify for the Derby Sire Jackpot if they have an offspring in the Derby that year. You can also qualify decease or infertile stallions by paying a special qualifying fee. The scores of the offspring of the qualified stallions are then ranked after the Derby class with the top ranking stallion winning the Sire Championship and 50 % of the jackpot, the 2nd ranking stallion receiving the Reserve Championship and 30% of the jackpot, and the 3rd ranking stallion winning 20% of the jackpot.
Please consider donating a stallion (these do not have to be reining stallions!) or buying a breeding from this year’s Sire & Dam Program. Without this money, there would be no Derby!
